You are cordially invited to attend a free conference hosted by the statewide Community Preservation Coalition* for Community Preservation Committees in the cities and towns from the Cape, Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts region that have adopted the Community Preservation Act (CPA). The conference is intended to provide community preservation committees, municipal boards, commissions and planning staff, and non-profit organizations with tools and strategies for implementing the CPA and for promoting healthy growth in their communities.

A continental breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 AM. The speaking program will begin at 9:00 AM with a welcome from Senator David P. Magnani followed by introductory remarks by Dorrie Pizzella, Executive Director of the Community Preservation Coalition and an overview of CPA implementation statewide.

Following the introductory program there will be an open discussion in which members of each of the Community Preservation Committees will share their respective experiences in implementing the Act. This session will include significant time for questions and answers and sharing of ideas and best practices.

After lunch (provided) there will be three specialty panels in the areas of community housing development, historic preservation and land protection and public recreation that will run concurrently between 12:45-2:30 PM. The panels will focus on creative approaches, mixed use projects, successful partnerships with for profit and not profit organizations, leveraging community preservation funding and other tools/resources to assist communities with initiatives in the three core spending areas. All three sessions will set aside ample time for discussion and questions and answers.

Directions to Sandwich High School:

From the South: Follow Route 28 or Route 151 to the Mashpee Rotary. Take Great Neck Road to Route 130. Go left (north) on Route 130. Follow Route 130 past the "Entering Sandwich" sign to the only set of lights. At the lights, turn right onto Quaker Meetinghouse Road. At the next set of lights, go straight for about 3 miles to the high school entrance on the left (you will have crossed over Route 6, Exit 3).

From the West: Depending upon where you come from, take the Mass Pike or 195E to 495 South, which turns into 25 to Route 6. If you come from Route 28, it turns into Route 6. Route 6 goes down both sides of the Canal. You can follow Route 6 East to the Sagamore Bridge and cross the Sagamore Bridge over the Cape Cod Canal.

Or

Go over the Bourne Bridge, go around rotary until you get to Route 6, then follow along the Canal until you get to a regular set of lights. Go right at lights towards Route 6. Take Route 6 to Exit 3 (Quaker Meetinghouse Road - East Sandwich). Turn left onto Quaker Meeting House Road, and the high school entrance is a short distance on the left.

From the North: Take Route 3 South to the Sagamore Bridge. Take Route 6 to Exit 3 (Quaker Meetinghouse Road - East Sandwich). Turn left onto Quaker Meeting House Road, and the high school entrance is a short distance on the left.
