Fall 2007 CPA Election Results

Three communities had the Community Preservation Act on their municipal election ballots yesterday, November 6th, and a majority of voters in all three communities voted not to adopt the Act. In Gloucester, the final tally of votes showed that the race for CPA was close, (3,939 yes votes cast for CPA versus 3,989 no votes), and residents there are planning to petition the city for a recount. In Salem, 2,934 votes were cast against adopting the CPA, while 2,594 voters supported adoption. Finally, in the community of Franklin, 2,174 voters cast no votes versus 1,528 who voted to adopt CPA.
