Trust Fund Collections Are Up Slightly

June 29, 2011: In FY 2011, the CPA statewide trust fund collected a total of $26.6 million compared to the $26.3 million collected last year. This is a small increase, and still significantly below the historic average of $34 million, but it's headed in the right direction!

The chart below tracks the two main CPA funding sources over time: the red line shows the statewide CPA trust fund revenue, while the green line shows the total local surcharge revenue collections for all CPA communities.  As you can see, as more communities joined the CPA program, the local revenue collections climbed dramatically. At the same time, however, the statewide CPA trust fund revenues have fallen significantly. This demonstrates the need for our legislation, An Act to Sustain Community Preservation, which would provide additional revenue to the trust fund, thereby stabilizing the annual distribution for CPA communities.
