Governor Patrick Announces Grant Funding for Groton CPA Project

December 2011: In early December, Governor Patrick and the Massachusetts Cultural Council announced the award of a $79,000 grant to the Groton Historical Society. The funds, granted by the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, will allow the Groton Historical Society to complete “necessary, expensive, and difficult” historic rehabilitation projects on the Governor Boutwell House, according to John Ott, president of the GHS. Current rehabilitation efforts are funded with a $176,000 CPA grant, which, when leveraged with the new grant, will allow the GHS to make the historically significant home safe, more energy efficient, and accessible to individuals with disabilities.

The house, built in 1851, was the home of Massachusetts Governor George Boutwell. It is now the site of the Groton Historical Society Museum. To learn more, read on here.
