Coalition Steering Committee Appoints John Henshaw to CPA Community Rep Seat

July 8, 2013: The Community Preservation Coalition has elected John Henshaw of Templeton for the position of CPA Community Representative. John was instrumental in the passage of CPA in Templeton and has chaired the town’s CPC since its 2007 inception. In that role he has overseen more than a dozen CPA projects in the affordable housing, open space, and historic appropriation categories.

John brings with him a dynamic understanding of the development challenges a rural, small town faces in addition to a strong commitment toward preserving local values and resources. Beyond his hands-on experience with the Templeton CPC, John also brings an extensive legacy of community involvement and enrichment. He has chaired the Town of Templeton’s Selectman Board and Open Space Committee, and served as the Millers River Watershed Council president. John holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Washington and currently works as Assistant Dean of Workforce Development at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner.

As a Community Representative, John joins Bob Wagner of Hatfield, Jeffrey Sacks of Newton, and Barry Rector of Nantucket. John will fill the seat previously held by Todd Helwig of Northborough. The Coalition would like to recognize and extend great appreciation to Todd for his contributions over the past five years, and look forward to working with John to further CPA’s mission across the state.
