Historic New England Field School: Using Easements to Protect Historic Properties

Sept. 7, 2017: Join Historic New England preservation experts for an in-depth course designed for historic preservation students and professionals.

Taking place on Friday, October 13th and Saturday, October 14th, this course will teach attendees how to develop, use, and monitor preservation easements to protect historic properties in perpetuity, as well as the legal and structural requirements of preservation restriction agreements. Attendees will also learn how Historic New England's Preservation Easement Program protects 104 privately owned properties across the region, including monitoring procedures for annual inspections.

The event also includes field exercises, visits to easement-protected properties, and the opportunity to gain a practical and theoretical understanding of Historic New England methodologies in this unique and highly regarded program.
