Center Hill Preserve, Plymouth

This 78-acre property fronting on Cape Cod Bay was Massachusetts’ top preservation priority and ranked second on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s national priorities list in 2006 when it came on the market. U.S. Representative William Delahunt called it “the Hope Diamond in Plymouth’s open space necklace” at the project opening in August, 2006. Representative Delahunt worked closely with Senators Kennedy and Kerry to secure additional funding from NOAA for the project, allowing Plymouth residents to leverage their $450,000 CPA contribution almost 10-fold to reach the $4 million price for the land. The property, which includes access to a spectacular mile-long stretch of beach, also has 28 acres of coastal land, a two-story building with meeting rooms, a kitchen and bathrooms, two public parking areas and a path to the beach, all of which will be open to the public.
