Windrush Farm, Boxford and North Andover

In January 2010, the Trust for Public Land, Windrush Farm Therapeutic Equitation, Inc. (WFTE) and the towns of North Andover and Boxford came together to protect the 195-acre Windrush Farm. The partners successfully raised the $3.5 million purchase price from North Andover CPA Funds, state and private grants, and a $1 million capital campaign.

The conservation of Windrush Farm protects critical habitat for rare and endangered species, water quality of the Ipswich River, and public access to a network of trails knitting together 1,800 acres of contiguous, conserved land. Conserving Windrush Farm also ensures the stability and future of WFTE, which provides equine-assisted therapies to more than 300 children and adults with disabilities, including veterans of war. Founded in 1964 by the landowner, WFTE is the pioneer of more than 780 programs of its kind in the United States.
