The Town issued a Request for Proposals seeking an affordable housing rental development on Town-owned property at 160-164 Pleasant Street. This process resulted in the selection of MCO Associates for the future construction of 44 rental units, 25% affordable. The Select Board has approved a Land Development Agreement and Lease Agreement ((99-year) with the developer. On June 27, the Dunstable Affordable Housing Trust approved payment of $9500 to cover the legal fees associated with developing these agreements.

Restoration of the historic church dome of St. George's Church.

The restoration of the historic structure at 228 Worthen St, Lowell, MA. Work to include windows, siding, and roofing.

Repair the secondary chimney which currently serves the high-efficiency boiler in the basement (installed 2013) and where visible in the attic is exhibiting extensive dampness, spalling and soft brick consistency.

Replacement of the original HVAC systems in the building which were installed in 1955.

Additional Funding requested and Granted to complete the Memorial Building Construction Project

The exterior paint is currently chipping on the bell tower . The bell tower is a focal point in the downtown area. This project will take four weeks and will not require scaffolding.

Renovating the historic homestead to better improve the experience and be all inclusive. This will include providing access to the first floor of the Quincy Homestead for people of all abilities as well as upgrading the visitor reception area. These funds will be used to create a new accessible entrance, a handicapped accessible bathroom and a more efficient ticketing area.

The funding will be used on preservation projects at the USS Salem including waterline painting, hangar preservation, environmental assessment/health & safety surveys, and collections digitization. Matching grants from Massachusetts Historical Commission, State Historic Records Advisory Board and Foundation for Advancement in Conservation will be applied for as well.

Phase two of the Veterans’ Memorial Stadium restoration. Work includes completing the restoration of the brick and mortar wall surrounding the stadium and a structural assessment of the walkway structure from the Hancock Street entrance.

This project will include the addition of five tables and benches, a Gaga Ball Pit, and a resurfaced asphalt section with painted games.

This project is the continued support of their Causeway Beautification Program, much needed rehabilitation of the beds due to storm damage as well as installing an irrigation line to supply water to all the beds. There are 35 established daylily beds on both sides of the Squantum Causeway, as well as additional daffodil plantings. This year, they are taking over maintenance of the beds in front of the fire station as well.

Funding support to rehabilitate two historic stone piers that flank the former Springside House carriage drive entrance.

Resurface the basketball court with a softer material and friendlier colors, add partial fencing along the east edge of the court where a hill currently allows basketballs to roll into the street; and hire a landscape architect to produce a detailed site survey, facilitate community input, and develop designs based on board and community ideas.

Preservation of historic building for community use.

The Structural Exterior Repairs to the Historic Colonial Theatre project will focus on the North and South walls of the stage house and auditorium of this historic structure. Additional work will be focused on the rooftop of the theatre.

Renovate, repair and secure the exterior of the historical building at Arrigo Farm, 342-344 Warren St. The project includes rebuilding 4 chimneys and repairing the barn.

Repointing of the historic Emmerton House constructed in 1810-1812 owned and operated by the Woman's Friend Society

Roof replacement on the Powers Block in downtown Salem. Roof system is in significantly poor condition with leaking causing significant harm and destruction to building and 16 affordable housing units. Complete new roofing system with addition of insulation.

Creation of 29 units of 100% affordable supportive housing for seniors and 19 affordable apartments for seniors

"Sound Reducing Materials" for newly constructed Pickleball Courts including Labor, Materials and Equipment to install the Acoustiblok pads, or a similar product by a different company.

Playground equipment improvements at Gillis Park (capital improvements). New additions include the installation of an ADA compliant outdoor water bottle filling station and picnic table. This project would also replace two pieces of broken equipment with a large ADA accessible [spinner].

The Community Preservation Committee recommended, and Town Council approved, $30,000 in 2020 (TCO 20-058) to conduct an historic building inventory of up to 120 properties dating from the late 1600’s to the early industrial period in Braintree. An initial RFP for historic preservation planning services was issued in October 2020 resulting in no qualified responses. A second RFP was issued in February 2023 resulting in the selection of Easton Architects. Town Council approved an additional $15,750 in funding (TCO 23-031) to complete the project.
