Fanwort (a non-native species of invasive plant) has once again become a problem in Pentucket Pond. Once the infestation and plant distribution is confirmed, a plan for remedial action will be made. This will involve treating the entire pond with Flouridone, an aquatic herbicide.

Georgetown Rec Path Development

For a study on creating a rail trail on the 4.3 miles former railway corridor running from the Boxford to Byfield town lines through Georgetown. The funds will be used for expenses associated with: information distribution, needs analysis, land rights and ownership analysis, soil and land analysis, abutter issues and mitigation; preliminary engineering and conceptual design, and agreement development with Massachusetts Electric Company. The Georgetown segment is an active participant in a regional initiative to create a 26-mile rail-trail that will include Salisbury, Newburyport, Newbury, Georgetown, Boxford, Topsfield, Wenham, and Danvers currently referred to as the “Border to Boston” trail.
