Since receiving CPA funding in FY21, construction costs have increased significantly, while the contractor has determined that larger sections of trim and siding need to be replaced.

Cambridge 49 Sixth Street

Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), a Boston-based nonprofit, is partnering with Urban Spaces to convert a portion of the Sacred Heart property in East Cambridge into affordable rental housing. The plan calls for CPA funding to support the adaptive reuse of the former convent, school and rectory buildings into 46 affordable rental apartments, with housing options for a range of resident incomes. As part of the renovation, POAH will restore the structures’ historic facades and interiors.

Brewster Historical Preservation 9N: Brewster Historical Society: Relocation/Restoration of Brewster Schoolhouse #3

The Brewster Historical Society proposed to flake Schoolhouse #3 at 2342 Main Street and move it to Windmill Village at Drummer Boy Park. The structure is the last remaining of the Town’s (5) 19th Century Schoolhouses. It will be re-assembled and restored as a schoolhouse and will also include a cranberry history display, as this was also part of its history. The funding request included an additional $10,000 set aside to pay for CPC expenses for historical consulting services related to the project.

The Town Council desired to purchase land for open space and passive recreation and to access other Town owned land. The CPC voted to recommend that the Town purchase said land and fund the purchase from Community Preservation Fund Open Space account in the amount of $50,151 and from the Budgeted Reserve account in the amount of $199,849 for a total of $250,000. Town Council approved this Resolution #22-90 on 12/14/23.
