Nantucket St. Paul's Church

Restoration of the Tower, final phase, and the main entrance of the Church. This project addresses the structural bulging on the upper north facade of the tower, internal shoring needs, replacement of tower adjacent roof flashing, and restoration of the main external and internal entryway of the church. The entry way, much the way it appeared at the completion of the building in its 1901 initial construction, represents the ground floor of the tower and the primary access to the interior. Using third party preservation experts, the total budget, $1,220,793 with the request to the CPC for $850,000

This is the continuing effort to restore this building in stages. This part of the project includes the removal of the treatment in front of the building to the rubble, plaster under the stairs, and replacing the cobble foundation, restore the wood flooring in the attic, with the major work being the restoration of the interior paster walls and the repainting with paint to recreate the original painting done on the walls.

Dunstable Morgan's Pond

For conservation purposes, the Dunstable Conservation Commission requested funding for the purchase of a 4.7 acre building lot that includes Morgan's Pond, the associated dam, and two hundred feet of frontage on Mill St. Historically, the dam was the site of the Swallow grist and sawmills in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and in the 20th century, William Morgan harvested ice from the pond. The purchase of this parcel is conditioned on the Town's receiving a 58% State Land Grant reimbursement.

Dunstable Drew Landing Public Boardwalk

In 2021, the Town purchased Emery Woods and Drew Landing. Emery Woods has 1600 feet of frontage on Salmon Brook (annually stocked by Mass Fish and Game), and a vast trail system that ties into the Helen Hogg Conservation land. Species often seen are beaver, kingfisher, heron, ducks, bank swallows, towhees and several specials of turtles. Currently, access to the 48-acre Emery parcel is by canoe or parking on High Street and walking 1764 feet through dense woods. The Conservation Commission purchased the Drew parcel with the plan of building a boardwalk to Emery Woods. There is also ample parking at the Drew parcel. The construction phase of this project is contingent on receiving a Mass Trails Grant.

Dunstable Larter Field 7 Wells System Rehabilitation

The wells and irrigation system at the Larter Field recreation area are 30 years old and no longer functioning. This area is used for baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer. It contains a 1/2 mile walking path, a basketball court, and a playground. This funding is requested by the Parks and Recreation Committee to rehabilitate and improve the entire well and irrigation system.

Dunstable Phase II Assessment of Woodward's Mill Dam

The Town Conservation Commission purchased the "Shaw Conservation Area" for conservation purposes in the mid 1970's. This purchase included the pond and dam site/water rights. Adjacent property was purchased by the Town for recreational purposes and trail access. The historic dam created the mill pond which powered both the saw and grist mills, previously owned by the Woodward family and provided one of the reasons for the location of the center of Town. The pond created by this historic dam is regularly used for fishing, boating, and ice skating. Phase I assessment has reclassified the Dam from a "Low" to "Significant" hazard potential and in need of further assessment. Phase II assessment will lead to design/rehab. alternatives.

Dunstable Tennis Relocate to Larter Field

This project was previously approved to be built on the existing Tennis Court site in Town Center. Due to increased regulations, this site now poses wetlands, parking, and access issues. Parks and Recreation have requested that the remaining funds for this project be re-allocated to a new site at the Larter Field sports complex. This site would consist of two Tennis courts and one Pickle Ball court.
