Georgetown Affordable Housing Trust Grant

Affordable Housing Trust Block Grant of $595,000 will be used towards the following items listed below: RAP (Rental Assistance Program) provides 'rental assistance' for low income renters in Georgetown, ensuring the renters expend no more than 30% of net income for housing. This short-term program has been available to Georgetown renters for many years and continues to run with great success. Lottery Listing Agent and Advertisement Costs - to hire a certified lottery listing agent to resell affordable unit(s) and/or rent affordable unit(s) in Georgetown according to DHCD guidelines. Staff and Administrative Salary and Development - Covers salary and state conferences, trainings, certifications, etc.. Maintain AHT Equipment and Office Supplies. Maintain current affordable units. To Capitalize on opportunities to create new ownership/rental housing. To invest in development of lend/housing development.

Newton City Hall restoration projects

Restore and rehabilitate Newton's 1932 City Hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Initial funding included $119,400 for historic window restoration, $150,660 for restoration of the building's balustrade and cupola, and $121,200 for restoration of historic light fixtures in the main corridors of City Hall. Stow Affordability restriction program

In May of 2003, Town Meeting voters approved appropriating funds to provide grants for the purchase of permanent affordability restrictions on existing residences ($150,000).

Stow Red Acre Road Land Conservation

The Town voted to appropriate $300,000 for Open Space and $100,000 for Affordable Housing – for a project on Red Acre Road. The funds would be added to funds raised by the Trust for Public Land (TPL) – and the overall project would be overseen by TPL.
This project was rescinded at ATM 2010. $60,000 was returned to the open space reserve and $240,000 was returned to the unreserved account.

Georgetown Rebuilding Together Grant

A grant to Rebuilding Together, a volunteer organization, to preserve and revitalize houses in Georgetown to assure that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled or families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence. Program hires many contractors to make improvements on low-income housing throughout the town.

Georgetown Historic Survey, Registration of Brocklebank Museum

To continue the Town's historic survey by surveying an additional 26 properties. The CPA funds go towards hiring a preservationist consultant to complete the survey. The consultant would also complete the formal application for the inclusion of the Brocklebank House on the National Register of Historic Properties. This Brocklebank museum is considered by many to be the oldest house in Georgetown and historically significant in both a pre-Revolutionary War context and the era of the Underground Railroad.

Georgetown Hampshire Woods Parcels

To acquire several parcels of land consisting of forested woodlands, fields, wetland areas and walking trails; a pristine, completely natural, undeveloped swath of land. By acquiring this combination of parcels the town will be getting lands that lie just north of its aquifer protection area, within approximately 1000 feet of two of the town's wells. Newton Kesseler Woods

Purchase and preserve approximately 21 acres of open space at Kesseler Woods, through a combination of City ownership and conservation restrictions. All CPA funding was counted for open space, but together the City's bidding agreement and special permit required its private partner's multifamily development to include 13 units of affordable housing for households at or below 50, 65 and 80 percent of area median income.
