This project replaced the roof on the Elizabeth Peabody House building, a historically significant building that is home to a pre-school, food pantry, and other social services offered by the Elizabeth Peabody House Association.

This project will preserve and provide access to the City of Somerville's Election Department records (1884-1967) by digitally scanning them and making them available free of charge online. These records include voter lists used at polls, index of registered votes, general register, voter annual registers by ward and precinct, preliminary and general election results, poll taxes, and list of women voters.

The City of Somerville will acquire the property at 5 Palmer Avenue to become perpetually preserved open space. CR provided to Groundwork Somerville Inc. in 2019; see project ID# 48147 for the $6000 appropriation for an endowment to hold the CR.

CPA funds will support a portion of the cost of rent of a building to house 9 individuals between the ages of 18-24 for up to one year.

The City of Somerville will procure design services for a renovated Healey Schoolyard.

CPA funds will benefit an estimated 7 Somerville households in time-limited rental assistance of up to two years. Grantee is Somerville Homeless Coalition.

MyRWA led a robust community engagement process and procured design services to complete a 25% design landscape plan for the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse Park and phasing and cost estimates for implementation.

The City of Somerville Planning Division will restore grave markers in the Milk Row Cemetery.

The Somerville Hispanic Association for Community Development will rehabilitate the historic Grace Baptist Church and make it ADA accessible. The building is home to the association and the food pantry it runs, as well as other social service organizations.

Somerville Public Library will remediate historic materials in the Central Library closed stacks and install an air conditioning unit to preserve them in the future.

This Lease Differential Program continuation of the Better Homes Program will benefit 12 formerly homeless and disabled Somerville households. Funding will cover the gap in rent between what HUD can fund (up to FMR) and what the actual cost of the monthly rent is for the units in Somerville. Grantee is Somerville Homeless Coalition.

Appropriation to the Somerville Affordable Housing Trust Fund, which serves as the housing arm of the Community Preservation Committee

This project will provide resources for the City of Somerville Engineering Department, in partnership with the Friends of the Community Path, to repave three sections of the Community Path: from the grassy circle to the Cambridge line, from Thorndike St. to Buena Vista Rd. and from Grove St. parking lot to Cedar St.

This project will provide resources for the City of Somerville to renovate and possibly expand the 22,000 square foot Hoyt Sullivan Playground. The renovation will include improving ADA and universal access, new lighting, circulation paths, improving the tree canopy and sustainable practices, providing active and passive recreation with a focus on younger children and improved visual connections to the community path and rail corridor via a new deck overlook.

This project will provide resources for the Somerville Museum to become ADA compliant. This will include building an elevator to meet ADA requirements, reinstalling the Museum’s original Palladian window that was removed in 1986 per a deed restriction with the Massachusetts Historical Commission.

Schematic design to rebuild the Allen Street Open Space. The design will seek to maintain or expand the 16 existing community garden plots and benches for neighbors. It will also add a play area for children, serving the surrounding community and the Allen Street Head Start School, which is directly across from the open space.

Appropriation to the Somerville Affordable Housing Trust Fund, which serves as the housing arm of the Community Preservation Committee

The Somerville Community Corporation will pilot its 100 Homes Initiative, which will secure affordability in the existing housing market. In addition to the restriction described below, which was for five units in two properties, the Somerville Affordable Housing Trust Fund recorded an additional housing restriction for two units in one property, recorded on March 8, 2017 with the Middlesex Registry of Deeds, book and page: 01505/7.

Temple B'nai Brith will add a fire safety sprinkler system and elevator to its 1922 Byzantine Revival building.

The CPC granted $243,000 to the Somerville Housing Authority to rehabilitate and restore the historic windows at the Mystic Water Works. The Affordable Housing Trust granted $257,000 to fund soft costs related to the community housing portion of the project.

The City's Planning Division contracted a firm to rehabilitate the historic tombs in Milk Row Cemetery.

The City's Transportation and Infrastructure Division will contract design services to rehabilitate Prospect Hill Park and provide opportunities for historic interpretation and passive recreation.

The City's Capital Projects and Planning Department will rehabilitate and stabilize the Prospect Hill Tower by replacing the upper level floor slab, resetting parapet stones, restoring doors and ornamental iron stairs, repointing the facade, and repairing the exterior stairwell.

The Somerville Homeless Coalition will provide rental assistance to 9 disabled and formerly homeless households in Somerville. CPA funds are needed to cover the gap between market rents in Somerville and funds provided by HUD.
