Somerville Election Records Preservation

This project will preserve and provide access to the City of Somerville's Election Department records (1884-1967) by digitally scanning them and making them available free of charge online. These records include voter lists used at polls, index of registered votes, general register, voter annual registers by ward and precinct, preliminary and general election results, poll taxes, and list of women voters.

Somerville 100 Homes Initiative

The goal of the 100 Homes Program is to create affordable units by acquiring existing properties that represent a mix of single and multi-bedroom units, and rent them to households with mix of incomes at affordable rent levels. The initiative is building on the success of the 100 Homes pilot funded in FY15. This phase of the project resulted in eight units in three properties.

Somerville Somerville Museum - Capital Improvements

This project will provide resources for the Somerville Museum to become ADA compliant. This will include building an elevator to meet ADA requirements, reinstalling the Museum’s original Palladian window that was removed in 1986 per a deed restriction with the Massachusetts Historical Commission.

Somerville South Street Farm

This project will provide resources for Groundwork Somerville to expand the capacity of the South Street Farm to be used as public space and an outdoor classroom in addition to its current function as an urban farm. This will include constructing a shade structure, wash station, bicycle parking, and tables and benches. Groundwork Somerville will also make improvements such as conducting a phytoremediation project, creating new rain collection surfaces and storage, installation of composting structures, and improving onsite water and drainage management.

Somerville Allen Street Mixed Use Renovation

Schematic design to rebuild the Allen Street Open Space. The design will seek to maintain or expand the 16 existing community garden plots and benches for neighbors. It will also add a play area for children, serving the surrounding community and the Allen Street Head Start School, which is directly across from the open space.
