Creation of playing fields on land purchased with CPA funds (project 4638) using a design funded by CPA funds (project 5479)

To obtain a conservation restriction on 9 acres of land bordering town owned land in an area known as Manhan Meadows. This property was a gift, see project ID 44478 called "Legal fees for transfer of land in conservation from owner to town" for more info. Seller: Steve Howland. map 29/31

The project is to prepare the site and install appropriate benches, walks, etc.

Signs will be provided for these two conservation areas owned by the Town

While the Town has held this property for some time, a survey indicating wet lands and other geographical factors has not been done. This would allow for better planning for the use of this land.

The Housing Authority will work with the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission to prepare and conduct a housing survey to determine the housing needs of the town.

This project would allow for the gathering of information concerning the possible use of the discontinued railroad bed as a path for recreational and transportation uses by town's people.

Southampton had soldiers in both the Revolutionary War and Civil War who are not buried in the town. This project would recognize them.

To purchase ultra violet ray recution window treatments for the Old School House and the Clark Chapman House

To hire a consultant to conduct a land use study and cemetery design of the Town-owned property adjacent to the Center Cemetery

For preservation of various town historical artifacts under the care of the Historical Commission

For repair of the Civil War monument and other old stones in the Center Cemetery.

For an affordable housing assistance fund that will help residents with accessibility improvements to their homes. Ongoing as persons apply.

For a CR on property in several towns. A joint project with Easthampton (using CPA funds) and Holyoke (using conservation funds). Whole CR covers 96 acres. Seller: Kuzeja Family.
