Replenishment of original $200,000 funding in 2/2013 that has been expended to help create ten new affordable housing rental units. Maximum loan is $20,000 per unit with matching funds.

Barnstable Preservation of Affordable Housing

Funding to preserve affordability of existing deed restricted housing stock from 1990 that used a re-sale formula based upon appraised value. The old restrictions did not account for a large upward swing in the real estate market and funds from this project help to "buy down" the price to keep it affordable for an eligible buyer. If an eligible buyer could not otherwise be found, the unit could be sold to a market rate purchaser and affordability would be lost. This project was initially funded in 2006 however funds have been exhausted with 4 units preserved.
