This project involves acquiring 46 Summer Street, an abandoned Mobil Station that has been a blight to the Town over 10-15 years. Property is connected to a Town owned Park, Flora T Little Park. The park will be adding publicly accessible downtown open space.

Heading Home, Inc., the non-profit developer of the site, has worked extensively with the Cambridge Historic Commission to ensure that the exterior renovations will restore the building to its original design.

Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), a Boston-based nonprofit, is partnering with Urban Spaces to convert a portion of the Sacred Heart property in East Cambridge into affordable rental housing. The plan calls for CPA funding to support the adaptive reuse of the former convent, school and rectory buildings into 46 affordable rental apartments, with housing options for a range of resident incomes. As part of the renovation, POAH will restore the structures’ historic facades and interiors.

Acquisition and predevelopment funding for Just A Start to purchase the parcel located at 52 New Street. This new construction project will create 107 units of affordable rental housing, including 84 family-sized two- and three-bedroom apartments.

A survey done on the property to prepare for the distribution of the RFP to solicit bids on the affordable housing project

This project will fund procurement of a service provider to delineate the wetland resources, locate the wetland lines by GPS, and use a photogrammetry and analysis of existing imagery to define the site’s topography to the two-foot contour; this data will then be used to develop a perimeter plot plan depicting wetland resources and topography at the site. 2014 Annual Town Meeting acquired 146 acres of a 156 acre property located off Depot Street (the Gill Property) for conservation and recreation purposes, with the remaining 10 acres for municipal use. This survey will support a master plan identifying suitable purposes on the property for protected open space, passive recreation, active recreation, and municipal use, appropriate and consistent with the site’s geography and the Town’s needs.

To assist the town gather more information for any future development of the Town-owned parcel as a park. The parcel contains an old dam. In November 2018, the Town obtained an inspection/evaluation report for the River Street Dam. The dam has been classified by the Office of Dam Safety as a small, significant (class II) hazard potential dam that has been found to be in unsafe condition. The report recommends a dam breach or removal.

Assist the Town of Acton (land owner) in the 53 River Street Dam project with final design and permitting. The scope of the project includes dam removal engineering design, permitting, dam and building removal, stream restoration, site restoration, park design and construction.
