To fund the acquisition of 24.6 acres off Woodcock Road in Russells Mills Village to preserve as open space through a Conservation Restriction. The DNRT will acquire on 24.6 acres off Woodcock Road near Russells Mills Village to preserve forest, unique land features, and animal habitat. [Map 28 Lot 42 & part of Map 28 Lot 42-1] The acquisition and protection of this land will also preserve the historic character of Russells Mills Village. This project will involve the acquisition of two parcels of land, each with a Conservation Restriction. The acquisition and preservation of these properties will enable expansion of trails from Destruction Brook Woods and the initial Russells Mills conservation land acquisition.

Third phase in the exterior preservation and rehabilitation of the historic Russells Mills Library. Additional work to be done includes refurbishing windows, replacing shutters and work on siding, trim, cornice, and porch.

Restoration and rehabilation work on the historic Russells Mills Library building that was constructed in 1871. Work includes structural repairs, removal of underground oil tank, and new septic system.

To support final construction costs to upgrade the Ryan Brennan Memorial Skate Park.

The Ryan Brennan Memorial Skate Park at Gallows Hill Park is named after a Salem student who tragically passed away after being struck by a car while on a skateboard. The current skate park was installed almost 20 years ago, is beyond its useful life and is in need of repair and updating. Many of the elements at the skate park are difficult or impossible for skaters to use due to the wear and tear caused over the years. The project will begin the design phase for the skate park and the City will work with a group of stakeholders along with a consultant to help guide the process to construct a new skate park as a resource for the entire City. Investing in a well-constructed and well-designed skate park will not only make the skate park a safer place to skateboard and/or scooter but also will help make the park more of a destination for people and families of all ages.

Improve walking trails at Ryder Conservation Lands and Conduct Property Line Surveys at Ryder and Cook Farm Conservation Lands, additional appropriation

Development of an all purpose field at Veterans Park to be used by various sporting leagues, such as soccer and lacrosse . Reallocation of funds of fields at Veterans park

These funds will be used for the design and permitting work to develop a roadway into the Bradstreet Property. This road will also provide access to the Open Space parcel and Community Gardens.

Replace first floor windows in the Town Hall Annex that was built in 1904. The 26 windows will replicate the current historical windows.

This project will preserve and restore the historic and valuable Monson slate roof tiles that are broken and missing.

SA21 6/20 Parks & Recreation Committee to renovate the Basketball Court at Pine Grove School to a full size court with benches and grandstand seating.

Bond of $800,000 ( Eight hundred thousand dollars) to be spent under the direction of the Town Manager in consultation with the Community Preservation Committee for the purpose of funding the creation and completion of the infrastructure for Phase 2 of the Affordable housing project known as Sachem’s Path, to complement the funds previously awarded to Housing Assistance Corporation for the creation of 40 affordable housing units at Sachem’s Path.

Comprehensive renovations to improve access, replace park features and establish more park like characters throughout.

To conduct an archaeological and architectural study regarding the Saced Heart Seminary property on Great Neck Rd

Restore masonry steps and repair one buttress at the 1874 church designed by Patrick W. Ford. The church is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

To purchase a Conservation Restriction/Development Rights on the Sacred Hearts Seminary. No CPA money was used in the end.

To meet the increased cost of completing the foot bridge over the Manhan River as part of a Mass Trails Grant (Phase II) project in the Manhan Meadows Sanctuary.

An area along the Manhan River is Town owned and has a some walking trails. As it is near the centre of Town it is easily accessed and used often. A microburst hit that area of town and brought now trees and left hanging branches. This area needs work to restore it to safe use.
