Funds for a study of the Tyngsborough Housing Authority

For the City of Waltham to purchase UMASS parcels located at 225-227 Beaver Street, 240 Beaver Street, and 240 AFT Beaver Street from the University of Massachusetts/Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The project is a Partnership between the Bread of Life and the Metro North Housing Corp. (MNHC) which fall into two CPA Funding Categories; Housing - to provide 14 permanent studio apartments for homeless families and veterans as well as; Open Space - improvements to the entrance from the Bread of Life facility on Eastern Ave. to the Northern Strand Community Trail to provide improved access, appearance and open space to the trail amenity.

Fund the construction of the final design for the new Underwood Park complex, a Town asset that has been available for all Belmont residents to use for the past 100 years. As of 6-30-15, the majority of work has been completed, with only one invoice remaining to be processed.

Recognizing the inter-relatedness of the Town's Comprehensive Plan which is due for an update and the Strategic Plan the Board of Selectmen agreed to undertake at a Special Town Meeting in the Fall of 2015, a Unified Plan Group was formed to undertake the first phase of this project, including the planning for the RFP for a consultant to guide the town through the process of goal setting, prioritizing and setting long-term goals for the Town.

For replacement of aging fence at historic cemetery.

Community Preservation Historic Category “Union Cemetery Invasives Removal Project”
To see if the Town will vote, pursuant to G.L. c.44B, §6, to appropriate from the Community Preservation Fund Historic Reserve Account the amount of $12,000 (Twelve Thousand dollars) to preserve the Union Cemetery for the purpose of funding improvements to preserve and protect Union Cemetery, including the removal of invasive vegetation around gravesites; removal of the stump of a toppled pine tree and restoration of the damaged gravesite; the restoration of the Cemetery shed; and the restoration and rehabilitation of Cemetery land and surrounding tree-line perimeter and stone wall including the leveling and re-graveling of the internal cemetery road as recommended by the Georgetown Historical Commission. Any funds from this appropriation remaining unspent after a period of 3 years from the date of the approval of this article will be returned to the Community Preservation fund only after a vote by the Community Preservation Committee determining that it is unlikely the remaining appropriated funds will need to be spent to this effect; or take any other action in relation thereto.

Restoration and beautification of the Union Chapel Park.

To replace the old shutters and old custom shutter points on the Union Church with new period-piece architecturally-accurate replicas of shutters and custom shutter points

This funding will support hiring a planning consultant or architect to facilitate and support the work of the Union School Rehabilitation Committee in establishing a long-term plan for restoration, rehabilitation, estimating costs, and developing an approach for the future use and availability of funding for the historic Union School.

Repair or replace the six corner pinnacle towers on the Union Society building

To complete accessibility features for a community food pantry and meeting space. The Union United Methodist Church is the oldest African American United Methodist Church in New England. The congregation originally formed in 1796 and was officially organized in 1812.

Replacement of the old chain link fence on one side of the 300 year old historical Union/Church Street Cemetery. The replacement fence will match the exisiting fencing on Union and Church Streets

Supplemental funding to construct 6 pickleball courts and associated parking & site improvements at Unionville Field to complete the $320,000 project approved in November 2020 following pandemic-related cost increases.

For a unit accessibility project. This money will be used for the engineering and design of handicap accessible units for elderly and disabled individuals. It will also include test borings and perc tests for new units. Presently only four units are considered handicap accessible and even they don't meet today's standards.

To fund the preservation of the rear windows and the access door to the side graveyard, and to restore the library room at the Unitarian Universalist Church.

To complete a historic restoration of the windows on the church on Cleaves Street.

Restoration of crucial structural support of the east wall and roof truss of the Unitartian Universalist Church.

–“The Angel of the Lilies” is a historic window created by the studios of Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1890, and is an excellent and rare example that combines Tiffany’s landscape and religious work. The figure in Tiffany’s Angel of the Lilies, clothed in drapery glass, stands before lilies and mountains beneath a sunset sky. CPA funds would help with complete restoration of the window, including removal, crating, transportation, 100% restoration, reinstallation and protective glazing. In addition to extensive cleaning of dirt and soot that has accumulated between the layers of glass, the entire window requires re-leading. The lead in the Tiffany window is beyond its useful life and is fatigued and cracked, accelerating deterioration of the fragile window. This window has been the primary feature of the North Pleasant St. side of the Society since 1925 and certainly is one of the historical treasures of Amherst.
