Malden | Woodland Street |
The goal of this project is to obtain professional services to create an appraisal for a parcel of land on Woodland Street. This parcel is situated between two city-owned parcels of land that the City obtained through tax titles and has voted to preserve as conservation land. The appraisal of this property could serve as the foundation for a negotiation between the City and the landowner to acquire this parcel for conservation, connecting it to the two abutting parcels, and creating a more robust piece of land for conservation, stormwater management, and public enjoyment. This parcel lies at the headwaters of the Linden Brook watershed and is consistently subject to flooding due to stormwater runoff from upland areas and route 99. If acquired, it could become integrated into the city-wide stormwater management plan that is currently underway. Future improvements to this land may include removing the existing impermeable pavement that currently exists on the property, designing and constructing a rain garden as well as a trail that would open public access from Neal Street to Woodland Street. |
