For 212 Yankee Drive, Brewster is listed as the municipality on the deed rider, dated January 1995. The owner of home is living in a facility and has a court appointed conservator. The home has been uninhabited for over 2 years. There was water damage to the property from an apparent burst pipe. Taxes were not paid 2018 (or 2019) and the Town was in process of putting a lien on property.The conservator does not have funds to fix the property or to pay the taxes owed. The Trust, working with itsâ Legal Counsel, KP Law and the Department of Housing and Economic Development (DHCD) are determining next steps for the SHI resale. |

Brewster | Affordable Housing Trust 1: Community Engagement Consultant |
This allocation was used to hire a consultant to assist the Trust in a Community Engagement process for the Millstone Road Community Housing project. The Town owns 16.38 acres of municipal land which was designated for Community Housing at the May 2018 Town meeting. The Trust received a $10,000 grant from Mass Housing Partnership(MHP)for $10,000 to perform pre-feasibility. After determining that the land was suitable for housing, the Trust put out a Request for Quotes for a consultant to assist with the community engagement process which included 3 in-person community forums and two online surveys. The contract was awarded to Barrett Planning of Plymouth, MA in the amount of $12,500. The Trust voted at their July 2, 2020 meeting to advance Concept #2 which includes 45-50 units of rental housing. Mass Housing Partnership has contracted with Bohler Engineering who will develop a master plan for the property which the Trust will review and then go out for Request for Proposals for a developer in the fall of 2020 with the assistance of MHP. It is expected that the Town will enter into a long term lease with the developer and all housing units will have a permanent deed restriction on them. |
