Creation of 75 affordable housing units. Converting the vacant William Barton Rogers School into a vibrant, inclusive, mixed-income, LGBTQ-friendly, senior housing development. The project will reactivate the building as a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive space.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod purchased a 5-acre site to build 10 single family affordable homes. Ten ranch-style homes will be constructed in two phases, 6 in Phase 1 and 4 in Phase 2. Requested CPA funding will be used for site clearance, drainage, and road construction for all 10 units. The project received a prior appropriation of $362,000 to acquire the project site.

Funding will be utilized for the Conservation Dept.’s efforts to achieve Universal Accessibility under the ADA at Willard’s Woods. The improvements will enhance accessibility through improved universal accessibility trails and facilities, and increase and improve parking, including access and handicapped spaces. This project will also help preserve the meadows, wetlands, and old growth forests at this popular site.

Repair of foundation of the Westport Historical Society Bell Schoolhouse.

To preserve, conserve and exhibit 1875 wedding album containing approximately 140 portraits of Williamstown citizens.

This project addresses the immediate structural issues of the Carriage House and preserves the historic building, which is an original part of Whittemore-Robbins estate, created in the early mid-nineteenth century. The current use of the Carriage House is for storage that supports the rental functions of the Whitttemore-Robbins house. The goal of the funding request for the Whittemore-Robbins Carriage House is to repair deterioration and rehabilitate the historic building. The Carriage House is listed on the Massachusetts Historical Commission’s Inventory of historic assets of the Commonwealth and on the National Register of Historic Places. Historical Preservation Restriction Note: The previous Historical Preservation Restriction was created in 1983 and was held by the Town of Arlington, and the MA Historical Commission.

This project will plan for the revitalization of the Town’s Common next to the Dallin Museum. The park is currently underutilized and will benefit from a comprehensive review of the physical grounds, its role as a congregational space, and its history. Initial ideas for improving the space came from the overall MassDOT work for Massachusetts Avenue, which called attention to its role in the public space improvements along the corridor. This study will build on that work and seek ideas to make it more welcoming. This property holds a preservation restriction created in 1986 by the Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Town of Arlington.

Restoration of the historical terrazzo floors of the Whittemore Elementary School.

The Town appropriated $275,000 from the Community Preservation General Reserve to be used for recreational purposes by the Harbor Development Committee to fund a project for the surveying, engineering, design, permitting and construction of a pedestrian bridge over the water at the outfall of the Town Brook and connection of the Town Pier area, across an easement to be granted by the owner of 3A Otis Street, to the park at Whitney Wharf (Map 50, Lots 50 and 49 and Map 51, Lot 1) which easement the Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized to accept.

To create a park and a pedestrian bridge on historic Whitney Wharf. The park is complete. The bridge was not constructed and $60,000 was returned to the CP Historic Preservation Fund. Funds were rescinded at ATM April 24, 2006
