The Historical Commission will work with a sign maker to create to two interpretive wayside markers. One would be placed at the corner of Depot Street and Warren Street (in the grass near the current rail road tracks). The second would be located at the corner of Reed Street and North Main Street and Old Street (in the island in front of Milton Monument). A time capsule was placed at Stetson Hall back in 2011. The Cannon Committee would like to place a granite marker indicating its location and detailing when it should be opened. With the current climate and effects from the COVID-19 Global Pandemic hitting the residents of Randolph particularly hard, the Town partnered with the United Way, South Shore Stars, and NeighborWorks Housing Solutions to create the Randolph Resiliency Fund. This fund has been very helpful in assisting residents with their rent, utility payments and even food. Unfortunately, the number of those affected by the pandemic continues to grow and the need of assistance is in great demand. Due to constraints by the Community Preservation Act, all funding received will be earmarked for rental assistance only. |

The Hebrew Senior Life Organization would like to expand their Simon Fireman Community here in Randolph. This project provides for a 45-unit wing addition that will provide long-term, deed-restricted, service enriched, affordable housing to income eligible senior residents; many from Randolph. This funding is only a portion of the funds needed to build the unit (total cost is $18,885,703) with the majority of funding coming from grants and loans from the federal and state government. A deed restriction will be put into place. |

The project would be in collaboration with the State and residents would have to meet federal and state criteria to qualify. Father Billâs & Mainspring will own and operate the property consisting of 10 rental units, a shared laundry, common space and staff office. The property would help qualified veterans end their homelessness and acquire services. |

The CPA funded the creation of the Randolph Dog Park back in 2011 and supported improvements/maintenance over the years. The dog park is in need of some fencing repairs and replacements around the perimeter and within the park itself. There are also some issues when it rains creating a need for regrading and the addition of stone by the stairs. Mulch and stone will be added throughout the park to replace that which has worn away over time. New waste stations are also needed due to damage in some cases and the popularity of the area. |

Over-fertilization and excessive nutrient loading over the years have caused Belcher Pond to be full of recurrent algae blooms, reduced transparency and dense aquatic vegetation that has impaired the functioning of the pond. Hydro-raking the pond at Powers Farm will restore the depth through the removal of plan material and organic matter, will also increase available open water habitat for aquatic wildlife. Hydro-raking can remove up to a half acre of vegetation and the first six inches of organic debris per day on average. The hydro-raking would take place in the fall and is expected to take about 10 days. |

The Town has had a demand for bocce and shuffleboard courts and other low-impact activities for residents of all ages. The location for the outdoor activities is on Pleasant Street near the Ice Rink, the Gazebo, Imagination Station, youth baseball and softball fields at the Randolph Intergenerational Community Center. A shuffleboard and two bocce courts along with four outdoor chess/gaming tables would provide social and recreational activities for users of all ages and abilities. |

The building is located on North Main Street in historic Crawford Square. The Trustees have noticed recent signs of water intrusion to the interior of the building due to the need of spot exterior brick re-pointing and waterproofing. Also in need of repair is a custom 8 x 2 window on the left side of the building as the elements are beginning to penetrate the double pane. The properties were selected because they were well-preserved examples of a style or form and/or buildings that represent a less common or unusual building form, style or material. Some buildings are within the possible North Main Street local Historic District, while still others were surveyed between 1977 and 1981 and are now recommended for further study for National Register. The Central Cemetery, St. MaryÂs and West (Oakland) Cemetery, have no documentation on file. This project will receive matching funds from a Massachusetts Historical Commission grant. |

Randolph | Oakland Cemetery Grave Marker Maintenance |
The Randolph Veterans Council noticed that the grave markers at the Oakland Cemetery have fallen in disrepair and some have been vandalized. The Council is asking for $6,500 to repair and replace the grave markers of veterans from the Civil War Era, to restore dignity to this area of the cemetery. The installation will be monitored by the Veterans Council and Veterans Agent and the work completed by Milton Monument Company. Some of the labor will be donated by the veterans so the amount is mostly for the markers. |

The Trustees of the Turner Free Library will replace the leaking Âceiling to floor windows on the main floor on the Northeast side of the library. The single pane windows overlook the VeteranÂs Memorial at the intersection of North Main Street and Memorial Parkway originally installed in 1966. It is expected that the Library will see significant energy savings on heating and cooling costs with the energy efficient windows and will weatherproof the Library as well, preserving the building integrity and ensure it continues to serve residents of all ages for years to come. |

Randolph | Memorial Parkway |
The Town will significantly enhance the amount of open green space on Memorial Parkway. Currently the stretch of roadway is all asphalt in a high-travelled location known for accidents. The general goal is to continue to improve the quality of life in Town through aesthetic enhancements while improving safety. Concurrently, the project allows for significant pedestrian safety improvements, right in front of the High School. The Town has acquired $2.4 million to make other improvements throughout the square in the form of successive PWED grants, this request augments our efforts to improve downtown Randolph. The design plan includes grass, trees, bushes and flowers. This project will transform the Memorial Parkway area and hopefully bring a greater appreciation for what open space can bring to the design elements to roadway projects. Concurrently, the open space enhances pedestrian safety in front of the high school, affords opportunity for sustainable use (solar lamps, etc.) and educational offerings at the high school level (native plant species, water conservation, composting, sustainable urban gardening, etc.). |
