Randolph Stetson Hall Entrance Project

The east entrance at Stetson Hall is deteriorating and in need of new decking, walkway, steps and benches along with trim, framing and lattice. The Trustees will hire someone to remove and replace these areas with composite board decking and pressure treated lumber. The Historical Commission has approved the materials and colors.

Randolph Young School Tennis Courts

Since the resurfacing of the Young School Tennis Courts back in 2015, the courts have grown even more popular than they were before. Due to regular usage, wear and tear and the weather, the courts need to be completely removed and redone. The current asphalt will be removed and a new court installed and lined and striped for 3 courts. The fencing will also need to be repaired where it can be or replaced. The DPW will be involved with this project to help when they can.

Randolph Town Hall Rehabilitation

Town Hall is desperately in need of repairs. Trim around the windows and doors will be repaired when possible, with new windows and steel doors being installed. There is also concrete work needed to the facade of the building. The front deck had been repaired and painted previously and it is now in need of replacement. Composite decking will be used to help with maintenance. The clock and related parts including lighting needs complete replacement to restore the clock to proper working order again.

Randolph Park-North Randolph Fire Station

This phase of the project includes the creation of a memorial park on the .28 acre parcel next to the new fire station in North Randolph, The open space will include landscaping, benches and a memorial stone to honor Randolph First Responders.

Randolph Reservoir Walk

As part of the Conservation Commission’s efforts to preserve and protect the Town’s natural resources and open space, this project will solve the current flooding of this section of the Reservoir Walk. The DPW will be utilized to assist the Conservation Commission in the installation of new culvert drain pipes and rip rap along with improved grading to eliminate soil erosion and sediment deposits.

Randolph Pickleball Courts- RICC

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in Randolph, going from 3 players to 50 players in 2 years. Currently players use the basketball courts inside the Intergenerational Community Center and the outside courts at Belcher Park when the weather is nice and the Recreation Program is not already using them. This project creates 3 permanent, outdoor courts adjacent to the Community Center, to be used just for Pickleball. Players will bring their own equipment, and the nets would remain up.

Randolph Fin, Fur * Feather Conservation Area

The Conservation Commission has been improving the area open space areas around Town for residents to enjoy nature and passive recreation. This project will develop a design plan for the continued preservation of the Fin, Fur & Feather Conservation Area by establishing walking trails surrounding the Reservoir. This plan would also assist with the permitting and construction documents needed for the project. The construction would be in phase II of this project

Randolph Forestry Preservation Plan

As part of the Town’s Open Space and Master Plans, the Conservation Commission will hire a registered forester through the Mass. Dept. of Conservation and Recreation Forest Stewardship Program. The forester will develop a long-term plan that preserves and protects the Town’s forested property within the Conservation Commission’s jurisdiction, for public open space recreation, education and wildlife and woodland protection.

Randolph Open Space Preservation Plan

As part of the Conservation Commission’s efforts to preserve and protect the Town’s natural resources, this project will preserve, protect and enhance the overall ecological health and unique ecosystems of specific conservation lands, stream and ponds as identified as top priorities by the Commission. The DPW will be utilized to assist the ConCom to improve these properties. The Commission will also work to educate the residents on how to care for and maintain our conservation areas.

Randolph Glovers Brook Rehabilitation

Glovers Brook currently has a large build-up of silt & sand & is vegetated by invasive, non-native species. By removing the invasive plant life & the silt and sand built up, the water source will be allowed to breathe & healthy vegetation & water life will thrive & clearer water will enter our water system. The installation of a silt basin will give the silt a place to settle preventing further build-up.

Randolph Norroway Pond Restoration

This remediation of Norroway Pond will continue hydro-raking; remove invasive vegetation from the Park's Atlantic White Cedar Swamp, as well as, evaluation and implementation of treatment & aeration of the water.

Randolph War Memorials Lighting

Lighting of the war memorials in front of Town Hall and the ones in Crawford Sq. so residents can experience the history and remember those who have fallen, at times later in the day. Lighting will also be added to the flag poles, so the Town is following proper flag etiquette.

Randolph Playground Updates

Over the years, the Town and the CPA have built multiple playgrounds around Town. The youth of Town utilize the equipment and playground areas on a regular basis. The play areas get run down over time due to use and the environment. Playgrounds are in need of new mulch, repair of broken components, the purchase of new play items and more. By rehabilitating our playgrounds, we will enable the youth of the community to continue to enjoy them much longer. Each playground area will be assessed to determine the extent of repair/upgrades needed. This project would create a yearly review of replacement/upgrades on Town playgrounds funded by the CPA.

Randolph Belcher Park-Ropes/Challenge Course

The Town of Randolph was accepted by the State to participate in the “Our Common Backyards” grant program. The Randolph project will be to construct a recreational opportunity for teenagers and young adult residents in Town. The Town has to contribute $50,000 of the $200,000 needed for the project. The State, in turn, will reimburse the Town $150,000. The construction must be completed within the calendar year. The Town Planner and Director of Community Programs have decided on a ropes/challenge course using 20,000 sq ft of the total acreage of Belcher Park, to contain low ropes, cargo nets, traverse lines (with and without tires and tension ropes), climbing structures and fitness pieces in a space that engages the older youth and adult population.

Randolph Historic Lighting-Stetson Hall & Town Hall

Crawford Square received historic/period style street lighting during the streetscape improvement project in 2012. This request would support funding that would extend those same fixtures to the parking lots at historic Stetson Hall and Town Hall to ensure the safety and security of the buildings and their visitors while enhancing the appearance of the Crawford Square area.

Randolph Vital Records & Historic Document Preservation-Phase 1

The Town Clerk would like to start the process of digitally scanning & microfilm the vital records and historic documents for generations to come and to assist those seeking historical records or genealogy research. In addition, he will begin the process of rebinding and preserving many books that have sustained damage based on age, general wear and tear and mold. Many of these records could be placed online. Additionally, research time will be significantly reduced with a comprehensive data base of the records.
