The Acton Congregational Church is located at 12 Concord Road in the Acton Center Historic District. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Acton Historical Commission’s Cultural Resource List. It was built in 1846 with renovations made in 1889. The funding has been made for the restoration for the approximately 120-years-old stained glass windows that need attention in the short term in order to prevent further damage.

The project will fund the removal of the old equipment and existing aged asphalt and pay for the installation of a post-tensioned concrete slab, permanent line markings and junior size adjustable hoops.

Project planning and site evaluation for locating educational nature trails. Seed money for additional foundation grants for trail construction.

To create a new Village Green in a 1 acre parcel of land, including benches, walkways, and a small historical kiosk and plaza

For the creation of a multi-use recreation spce (softball/little league diamond, baseball diamond, soccer/lacrosse fields)

Preparation of a master plan and land survey for the revitalization of Gardner Field.

To assist in the preservation of the bell tower which includes roof replacement and rot repair. The former First Universalist Church at 140 Main Street in South Acton was built in 1877. Award of this appropriation is subject to receipt by the Town of Historic Preservation Restrictions for the property.

To assist the Historical Commission to fully convert the Town of Acton’s historic buildings records to the Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System (MACRIS) maintained by the Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC).

For rehabilitation of the historic two family dwellings at 43-45 School Street. The Historic Resource category assists Habitat with the building’s rehabilitation in accordance with the requirements of the Acton Historic District Commission and consistent with the United States Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, including windows, doors, roofing, gutters, masonry, and exterior trim.

For the purchase of a portable stage to be used for accessibility to the parks amphitheater performance stage.An accessible ramp is a requirement for ADA access to NARA amphitheater’s elevated Stage Risers.

For siding and deck replacement at the 23 unit elder/disabled development on Sachem Way. The preservation work will replace siding and decking that dates from the original building construction in the 1980’s.

To complete funding for the rehabilitation and renovation of the Kennedy Building, located in Woodlawn Cemetery. The work includes accessibility improvement that will make the building fully ADA compliant; windows and front door; and interior rearrangement of offices, meeting room and other spaces to better fulfill their purposes. The Acton Historical Commission has determined that The Kennedy Building is an important cultural resource in its cemetery context, setting and function.

The project is to preserve the nearly one hundred year old stone piers that define the three gates of the Woodlawn Cemetery along Concord Road. The Woodlawn Cemetery is a designated historic and cultural resource listed on the Acton and Massachusetts Cultural Resource List and it has been recommended for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

Funding has been made for Morrison Farm Well to be irrigated via the installation of a private well.

Funding has been made to the preservation, restoration, and protection of the original historic features including window frames, rotted clapboards, and trim elements on the 1732 main house, the ca. 1750 tavern ell, and the early 19th-century west ell. It also includes some selective repointing of the foundation, replacement of the wood shingle roof on the 1870s north ell, and the historically-appropriate replacement of some 20th- century features that have deteriorated beyond repair. The Jones Tavern has received CPA grants in prior years to restore its four brick chimneys and replace a portion of its roof. There is an existing historic preservation restriction and the historic preservation restriction may need to be updated.

Funding has been made to the removal and replacement of the existing wood shingle roof. The House is in danger of water and other damage due to the deterioration of the roof. The Acton Historical Society received CPA grants in 2011 for the restoration, rehabilitation of the windows and doors and for the roof replacement of two out-buildings on the property. There is an existing historic preservation restriction and the existing historic preservation restriction may need to be updated.

Funding has been made to replenish the existing Community Housing Program Fund for "the acquisition, creation, preservation, and support of community housing in the Town of Acton." ACHC proposes to continue its current programs and initiate new ones: Grant for Housing and Economic Development Implementation Plan with EOEEA matching grant $18,750; capital improvement for affordable unit $1800. $60,000 grant to Habitat of Humanity to subsidize a duplex at 43-45 School St.

The Town approved a two-year CPA appropriation for this regional program in 2012. This funding renews the Town's participation and will cover the fees for the next year. The regional program assists with affordable housing matters which include monitoring affordable units, compliance with regulatory agreements and home ownership training for affordable unit owners.

Funding has been made for a Master Plan for the three historic properties located at 8, 12, and 20 Concord Road in the Acton Center Historic District to evaluate and identify critical needs and set restoration and rehabilitation priorities to preserve these historic assets for future years. All three buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Acton Historical Commission’s Cultural Resource List.

Funding has been made for phase two of a two-part expansion of the T.J. O’Grady Skatepark. Phase two construction consists of a triangular Skate Plaza. Phase two converts the barren 100’ x 100’ area remaining after the original Skate Park parking lot was removed to support the Lower Fields’ synthetic turf field complex installation.

The Discovery Museums, INC. proposes to build two main outdoor recreational activity areas, called Discovery Woods and Creativity Playscape, to relocate parking and to build a gateway/ portal to allow better access to the adjacent Great Hill conservation and recreation land. The Total project cost is 1.3 million, of which 85% is funded through private donations. Funding has been made to help fund the two main outdoor areas, Discovery Woods (a nature playscape) and the Creativity Playscape.

The Acton Women's Club is located in the Acton Center Historic District. The Women's Club received Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding in 2011 for the installation for an accessible sloped walkway at the right-side building entrance to provide handicap accessibility to the first floor. Funding has been made to complete the second phase of the project and include addressable fire alarm system, illuminated signs, emergency lighting and panic devices on the exit doors.

Funding has been made for the construction of handicapped accessible resource rich, simply constructed nature place, spaces for the elementary schools in Acton. This request is for the construction of the Nature Play Space for the Acton elementary schools as part of the regional school system.

Funding has been made to fund the cost and installation of an irrigation well at the Acton Arboretum. The Acton Arboretum water supply has been shut down for 2 years due to a leak. The Acton Arboretum water comes form a metered town service near the corner of Taylor Road and Main Street.
