Dracut Yapp Farm Parking Lot

With the acquisition of the former Yapp farm site, consisting of 28+ acres, the Open Space Committee and the CPC want to provide parking so that town volunteers can construct trails for the residents to enjoy. The Dracut Engineering Dept is designing the parking lot, wetlands have been flagged and the DPW and/or general contractors may complete the work on the site. about 5-6 parking spaces are anticipated.

Dracut Yapp Farm

The 27.7 acre Yapp Farm was purchased by the Town of Dracut using CPA funds at Fall 2015 Town Meeting. The farm, consisting of recreation land and farm fields, is to be used for agricultural and recreational purposes. The northeast corner of the property contains some wetlands, which is part of a larger wetlands area. The acquisition was a targeted property on the open space plan and serves to connect various large parcels of wildlife corridor. Seller unknown. Map 20-14-2 and 20-14-2.2

Billerica Yankee Doodle Bike Path

The Town of Billerica has been moving ahead on the design for the Yankee Doodle Bike Path. The Town is currently at the 25% design stage and is seeking to advance to 75% design stage. The CPA funds will be used to advance the recreational initiatives laid out in Billerica’s Open Space and Recreational Plan to “Improve, expand, and increase access to active and passive recreational opportunities.”

The Worstrel Environmental-Adventure Center will be an education center adjacent to the Annisquam River and Gloucester High School that will utilize this unique environmental area to enhance outdoor educational and vocational opportunites for Gloucester High School students. The project will include construction of a Challenge Course, an addition to the existing Aquaculture Lab, and a Community Garden. Community Preservation Act funds will be used to remove and replace invasive Norway maples with species beneficial to wildlife.
