Funds for engineering to determine feasibility of developing Town owned parcel into a recreation facility.

Funds were granted to City of Newburyport Parks Department, working collaboratively with the Newburyport Youth Soccer Association (NYSA) to redesign and improve “Parcel B” at the Cherry Hill Soccer Park. The re-design will address the parking issues and transform the open space area into another high quality soccer field to accommodate future growth of the NYSA. While its use will be primarily focused on youth soccer, the field will continue to be available for other activities including Special Olympics and High School soccer.

The request for funding was brought forward by the Chelmsford Skate Park Committee. The Skate Park is located on Roberts Field and is part of a larger multi venue park. This is a 2 phase/ 2 year project with matching funds and donated materials. The project has a fund for annual maintenance.

Produce a master plan or conceptual design for the portion of the brook from Watertown Street to the Charles River, including bike paths, improved linkage and access to abutting open spaces and recreation facilities, environmental remediation for enhanced water quality and flood control, footbridge redesigned to comply with accessibility codes, new plantings, lighting and outdoor furnishings. The Chatham YHousing Authority's Congregate residence which houses income eligible seniors needed a generator in the event of power failures in the Town. Without this it would have been necessary to evacuate frail and elderly residents in the event of a power failure.

The project is to retain the historical integrity and maintain public access to the Charter Street Cemetery through the implementation of the new landscape plan. The project scope includes upgrades and stabilization of pathways, installation of circulation signage and in-ground lighting, installation and restoration of fencing, and major landscaping improvements and the development of a landscape design.
