There is a commitment for reimbursement of funds through a PARC grant for the installation of a splash pad and improved walking trails at Conant Park, near the Town center. .

An area along the Manhan River is Town owned and has a some walking trails. As it is near the centre of Town it is easily accessed and used often. A microburst hit that area of town and brought now trees and left hanging branches. This area needs work to restore it to safe use.

For a number of years the Labrie Field, purchased originally with CPA funds and a state grant, had not been completed. As it had been used for soccer, baseball and softball fields were also in need of improvements. This project will allow the completion of work, including a storage area, playground for small children and other improvement. plus the upgrading and improvements to the actual playing fields. Some actual work will be done by volunteers.

Some veterans' graves beyond what those covered in a previous project need straightening.

Additional funds are needed for an update of the old assessment and for records research. After beginning the process, the railroad stopped the process. It has now indicated that they wish to continue.

If the purchase of the Pioneer Valley RR property in Southampton is successful this will cover the related costs including an assessment of needed repairs to the rail bed.

Southborough Historical Society has hundreds of artifacts/items in its care that require an expert’s assessment concerning its importance and urgency for preservations. Funds will be used for the assessment and to preserve items in need of immediate attention. Once assessment is complete a future application for funds can be submitted detailing priority and cost for preservation.

$4,000 from the General Unreserved/Fund Balance for the purpose of creating a sand volleyball court at Neary School, for the purpose of recreation. Said funds to be expended under the direction of the Community Preservation Committee; or do or act anything in relation thereto

The Town of Southborough is requesting funds for the historical restoration of South Union School, restoration of the windows addition of storm windows, and other external renovations.

To appropriate $27,015.00 from the CPA General Unreserved Fund to fund Phase II of the Southborough Town Clerk’s project. Monies will be used for the preservation and microfilming of historic town records

To appropriate the amount of $6,000 from the CPA General Unreserved Fund, as requested by the Southborough Historical Commission. Monies will be used for application fees associated with adding the South Union School to the National Register of Historic Places, for the purpose of Historic Preservation.

For GIS work to update open space maps.

Funds will be used to rehabilitate and restore two tennis court surfaces located at Mooney Field Complex. These facilities are widely used by the schools, by the Recreation Department for programs, and by residents. The courts have deteriorated to the point where it affects their ability to be used properly and safely. In addition to resurfacing, the courts will be painted to allow pickleball to be played as well as tennis.

Funds will be used for improvements of a 1.6-mile trail segment to close a gap in the 33-mile regional Boroughs Loop Trail (BLT) that connects the trail networks of Marlborough, Northborough, Westborough and Southborough. The trail will also be part of MWRA's Aqueduct Trail system and will serve as a future connection to Framingham's Aqueduct Trail on the east side off Pine Hill Road. This project consists of two components: ‱ Wayfinding/regulatory interpretive and historical signage ‱ Fencing to enclose the Hosmer Riser. Additionally, this funding allows the STC to apply for the Massachusetts DCR trails grant to improve Trail accessibility at Route 30 and Central Street.

hire an historical architect to conduct a Condition Assessment of the historic 1859 Flagg School. The assessment will include historic paint research on the building, draw up plans and budgets for the window restoration and other relevant exterior issues such as redesigning the unsafe front and rear stairs which is needed to preserve the building into the 21st century and beyond.

The renovation and restoration of the historic Southborough Library building. Specific aims of the project include: replacing the library’s roof, restoring the crumbling stone sign featuring the library’s name, work on the large windows that brings interior light to the historic Judy Williams Reading Room, and corrective work on the stairs that lead to the library’s original entrance.

MeetingSummary: Under the direction of the Open Space Preservation Commission said funds will be used to target invasive species, including a stand of Tree of Heaven identified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Federal Government as a top priority for removal, Oriental Bittersweet infestation, and a stand of Japanese Knotweed that is obstructing views of a historic landscape while also damaging the structural integrity of a historic stone wall. Following invasive removal, under the direction of Dr. Robert Gegear, native plants will be installed that benefit pollinators with a focus on a rare species of bumblebee that has been documented in Southborough

This article would fund the historic preservation of gravestones and monuments in the historic Old Burial Ground of Southborough. Proposed by the Southborough Historical Commission, this grant request would be used to hire a conservator to undertake restoration work at the Old Burial Ground. The Old Burial Ground (1730- 1898) is one of the earliest enterprises by the newly incorporated Town of Southborough, and forms a significant part of Southborough’s institutional focus at the heart of the town center.

This article will provide for a building and site related assessment to preserve the Southborough Public Library, an historic structure that is one of the oldest and most used municipal buildings in Southborough.
