This proposal seeks funds for the replacement of the filter system, pumps and associated plumbing at the pool and wading pool at the Mill River Recreation Area. This equipment is original from the early 1970’s and is failing (at least one sand filter has already failed, resulting in increased maintenance). This equipment is outside the pool and will not impact the pool or deck.

This proposal seeks pre-development funds and soft costs in order to begin projects and undertake initial investments and surveys. Such funds are typically ineligible for grant reimbursement, yet they are essential to helping a project take shape. The funding would be used for a number of tasks, such as site surveys, concept plans, cost estimates, equipment research, or site assessments, that may need to happen at various times throughout the year and cannot wait for funding to be appropriated through the Town’s budget process.

This proposal seeks to maintain Town Conservation land by building and repairing bridges, boardwalks, kiosks, signs, parking areas, accessible trails and gates. This funding would only be used on land purchased using CPA monies: Epstein property, Muddy Brook, Wentworth Farm (southern portion), Stosz property, and Fort River Farm. Utilizing a small field staff, summer seasonal crew and volunteers, the Town will commit to better maintain and improve access to these important public resources.

Historic Preservation and reproduction of the verbatim transcript of the Barnstable Town Records, Volume !, allowing distribution of the copies to public institutions across S.E. Massachusetts; further maintaining limited access to the original volume and lengthening its preservation through less handling and use. $5,245 expended, remaining $255 returned to Historic set aside funds.

Survey Plan to Aquire Surfside Open Space

Funds for the acquisition from the US General Services Administration (GSA) in cooperation with the Town of Nantucket for 92 acre site in Madaket

Creation of affortable housing in numerous ways

Trust fund for affordable housing.

CPA funds were used to prepare a professional evaluation of the Town Office Building to determine optimal lay-out, efficiency and effectiveness for serving customers and staff. Construction cost estimates and construction drawings were also prepared as part of the project.

CPA funds were used to repair and replace existing copper gutters, ridge vents and downspouts on the Town Office Building, Cary Memorial Hall and Police Station. The project also included the installation of new storm windows in the Cary Memorial Building.

Feasibility study is directed at examining the historic preservation of the Town Offices Building as it relates to its continued use as a municipal offices building.

Provide mitigation planting to buffer Wesley Swamp and improve landscaping in the town park behind Preservation Hall

Replace Town picnic tables, Lake Street, Owen Park and Veteran's Field.

Funding towards the total cost of $900,000.00 to replace the Town Pier at Owen Park Landing.

The Town Planner provides assistance to the CPC, Town Manager and Planning Board in support of the strategic goals of the Town Council through local and regional efforts. They manage the community and economic development efforts of the Town through a wide range of coordination and cooperation with departments, citizens, outside agencies, and other stakeholders. The Planner is responsible for supporting the activities of the Planning Board, the Community Preservation Committee and the Economic Development and Strategic Planning Committees of the Town Council.

This assessment will evaluate the condition of both pools, usage, and provide cost estimates on potential upgrades. By having a professional assessment done, the Town will be able to better determine how both pools can be modified or replaced with a structure that better serves the needs of Norwood’s residents.

This FY17 appropriation will partially fund Phase III of the Town Pool Renovation project. Funds will be used to determine the design and engineering costs for replacement of the existing filtration system and additional work required to ensure the successful operation of the Town pool complex.

Identification and classification of stored documents. Preservation of and improved access to historic documents through scanning, refiling and permanent storage.

Historical Preservation of records - on going project

De-acidification and preservation of town death records and marriage intention files. The town records were stored in a basement vault with no climate control. Resurrection and preservation of these records can allow for genealogy research. Recovered records are stored in a climate controlled vault in the Town Administration Building.
