Barnstable Federated Church Burial Ground-Phase I

Preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of ancient burial ground containing approx. 383 headstones. Phase I work is to provide an inventory of the headstones, location map of each stone, condition assessment, cost estimate. Historically appropriate fencing is also a part of phase I to cease the vandalism and misuse of the burial ground. Self guided tours will be open for public use. Listed with Mass Historical Commission and application for National Register is intended.

Historic preservation and restoration of the Olde Colonial Courthouse located at 3046 Main Street, Barnstable. Phase 1 work includes roof repair, gutters and leaders, siding and trim, foundation repair, electrical system upgrade, basement entry gable, repair/replacement of porches and stairs and the removal of an exterior brick chimney that is unused. CPA funds allocated in 2016 but state grant was not awarded. TC vote for CPA funds held for 2017 state grant round. CPA funding contingent upon award of state (MPPF) grant in 2017.

Preservation methods include: scanning to compact disc, de-acidification, mending and reinforcing of paper, re-sewing, rebinding or archival grade polyester encapsulation as needed.
