Amherst Ball Lane Community Homes

Valley Community Development seeks to build 30 to 32 newly constructed homes (15-16 duplexes) on an 8.33 Acre parcel in North Amherst located at 20-40 Ball Lane. Twenty of the homes will be restricted for sale to Low-to-Moderate Income first-time homebuyer households, with the remaining being sold at market rate. The twenty affordable restricted homes will include a preference for home buyers from “Disproportionately Impacted Households” as required under the Commonwealth Builder (CWB) program, which is the primary subsidy source for the program. The goal of the CWB program is to increase homeownership opportunities for minority households and to shrink the race-based homeownership gap in the state. The $750,000 is requested as a match to the project’s development budget.
