Resurfacing of playground to make accessible

A complete engineering survey of the Wistariahurst Main House Building with specifications for the foundation work and chimney rebuilding. Remaining funds will be used to restore the one chimney with the most immediate need as well as to restore the damaged wallpaper from the leaking chimney.

The removal and restoration of approximately thirty or more journals and ledgers housed in the City Hall Basement. The documents will be cleaned, sanitized and made available to the public in the History Room at the Holyoke Public Library. This project is currently complete except for the posting of the CPA acknowledgement sign.

Historic rehabilitation of the exterior façade of 106-120 High Street to include historically appropriate windows, masonry restoration, and the installation of an accessible entrance (ramp and door) for 120 High Street.

Additional funds to complete the required remaining Phase III design, permitting, bid phase and construction engineering tasks for the 100% design phase that is in-progress. Phase III of the Cape Cod Rail Trail will extend to the west approximately four miles from Old Town House Road in Yarmouth to Mary Dunn Road in Barnstable.

Required Pre-25% Design Services for Phase IV of the Cape Cod Rail Trail project to be submitted to MassDOT for State Transportation Improvement Project funds for construction of the trail. Once constructed Phase IV will extend the Cape Cod Rail Trail westward approx. 10 miles from Mary Dunn Road in Barnstable to the Barnstable/Sandwich town line.

The Scituate Historical Society requested funding for restoration improvements to the historic 1797 Cudworth House on First Parish Road. The house, barn, and animal pound are operated by the Scituate Historical Society and are open periodically to the public during the year. The Historical Society has begun restoration work on the house and some of the historic contents following a skunk infestation and issues with mold. The overall goal is to re-establish visitor access to the Cudworth House Museum, the barn, and the animal pound historic properties.

The Friends of North Scituate Village (FONSV) requested additional funding for completion of the restoration of the historic North Scituate Train Canopy. A series of delays including COVID, personnel changes and additional unexpected costs caused the previous funding to be insufficient. To complete the project, additional funding is needed for installation of the canopy lights, benches, tables, trash receptacles and signage. FONSV is planning future fundraisers to purchase and install planters and flowers to enhance this rejuvenated public space in North Scituate Village. Completion of the project is anticipated shortly after funds become available. The Friends of North Scituate Village are seeking $30,991 in CPA funding to cover the remaining costs of the project. The funds for this request will be appropriated from the CPC’s undesignated fund

The Jenkins PTO/Jenkins Playground Committee is seeking funding to relocate and replace the existing playground at Jenkins School. The current playground is over 20 years old. A recent report by a Certified Playground Inspector identified many deficiencies and safety issues with the existing play equipment. The playground is heavily used by the school and by the surrounding community during non-school hours.

The Town of Scituate approved the purchase of the historic Mordecai Lincoln Property in the April 2022 Town Meeting to protect a historic property and to conserve a large tract of waterfront land for open space and recreation. The Scituate Conservation Commission requested funding for the design, engineering, and permitting for an expanded driveway and parking area near the existing main house to provide the public access to the land and the views along the river at one of the town’s newest land acquisitions.

Additional funding toward the North Wharf project

Phase 1 to restore the iron fencing at Old West Side Cemetery.

Project funds will be used to restore retired cranberry bogs to more naturally functioning streams and wetlands for the purpose of improving water quality as well as ecosystem form and function.

Project funds will be used to: 1) insulate walls and replace shingles with wooden clapboard on the front and sides of the building; 2) repair all windows; 3) replace all storm windows with new triple-track storm windows; 4) add wood-louvered shutters on the front and the sides of the building; and 5) paint windows, trim, and front door in accordance with the Historic Structures Report and the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
