CPA Communities Win Majority Share of State Grant Award

Jan. 6, 2012: The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) recently announced this year's open space LAND grants, and six CPA communities received more than two-thirds of the total funding!

CPA projects in Easton, Georgetown, Leverett, Monson, Northampton, and Phillipston received a total of $1.67M in state funds. Five of these municipalities have already approved CPA funding as the required local matching contribution, while Leverett will likely consider using CPA funding at this spring's town meeting.  CPA provides communities with a local funding source for the required match, giving them a leg up when it comes to applying for grants like this one.

Full project descriptions and funding amounts can be viewed in the EEA press release, available here.

The breakdown of funding for the six CPA communities is as follows:

  • Quinlan Memorial Project, 139 acres, Monson
  • Teawaddle Hill Farm, 147 acres, Leverett
  • Haughton Project, 97 acres, Phillipston
  • Mineral Hills Bookends Project, 96 acres, Northampton
  • Driftway Farm, 32 acres, Georgetown
  • Governor Ames Estate, 30 acres, Easton
