CPA Legislation Receives Favorable Recommendation

Sept. 24, 2015: Now we have one more reason to celebrate at the upcoming 15th Anniversary State House event! We are glad to report that An Act to Sustain Community Preservation Revenue, H.2587, received a favorable recommendation from the Joint Committee on Revenue. The bill now advances to the House Committee on Ways & Means.

An Act to Sustain Community Preservation Revenue provides a higher annual trust fund distribution for all CPA communities. This is especially important as more communities join the program and the match is predicted to be at an all-time low this fall.

The Coalition wishes to thank Joint Committee on Revenue Chairs Representative Jay Kaufman and Senator Michael Rodrigues for their support. We also want to thank the other members of the committee, our 89 legislative co-sponsors in the House and Senate, and the chief sponsors of the bill, Representative Stephen Kulik and Senator Cynthia Stone Creem.

What's Next?

There is still much to accomplish before the bill becomes law. The Coalition will immediately begin working with the House Committee Ways & Means in the hopes that the bill can be further advanced to the full House of Representatives this fall.

How Can CPA Advocates Help?

RSVP to attend the 15th Anniversary of the Community Preservation Act on October 6th at the State House and show your support for CPA! We need a large showing of CPA advocates to encourage the legislature to support this critical state program.
