Voters in Egremont and Arlington Send CPA to the Ballot

May 8, 2014: During their spring Town Meetings this week, Egremont and Arlington residents voted to put CPA adoption on their upcoming fall election ballots.

In Egremont, the meeting began with an attempt to table the topic of CPA indefinitely, which was quickly dismised with a point of privilege to open the floor to debate. Thereafter, a clear majority in favor of moving the CPA adoption question to the ballot prevailed, and the motion was passed with a 3% CPA surcharge. Egremont's November 4th election will ultimately determine whether the town will adopt CPA next year.

In Arlington, with the support of the Board of Selectmen, the CPA warrant article passed 128 to 77 to move the question of CPA adoption to the town's next regularly scheduled election, which is also slated for November 2014.
