Consulting study to conduct a pre-survey of existing inventories of historic and cultural resources to (1) assess the existing condition of properties already listed, (2) determine the accuracy and completeness of the information in the inventories, and what additional information is required, and (3) identify additional properties of historic or cultural significane that have not been surveyed. This information will be used by the Wellesley Historical Commission to create a strategic preservation plan.

Appropriation to the Department of Public Works to repair, preserve and restore the Issac Sprague Memorial Clock Tower in Elm Park

Phase One of the Master Plan to preserve, restore, and rehabilitate of the structural, environmental and aesthetic integrity of the 100-year-old Fuller Brook Park. The Fuller Brook Park, also known as the Brook Path, is Wellesley’s most popular and well-used public open space. The park extends from Dover Road near Wellesley College’s Nehoiden Golf Course for 2.5 miles throughout the middle of the Town, through the Hunnewell Field Athletic Complex and along Caroline Brook and ends at Maugus Avenue. The park is approximately 23-acres and drains half of Wellesley’s stormwater, while flowing into Waban Brook and ultimately into the Charles River. The original purpose for preserving the land adjacent to the brook was twofold. First, it prevented the building of homes in the brook’s floodplains and wetlands and second, it gave pedestrians a safe passageway through a scenic park away from the traffic on Washington Street. Both purposes are still relevant today. Phase One includes a study of the space, topography, boundaries, and conceptual design.

A preliminary study to determine the feasibility of adding approximately 5,000 square feet onto the Dadmun-McNamara House (on long term leased land owned by the Wellesley Friendly Aid Association) and bringing the current house up to museum storage and display standards.

The scope of the proposed project is updating of a portion of
the records for the Town of Wellesley in the Inventory of
Historic and Archeological Assets of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts (Inventory.)In the proposed project, the Commission intends to focus on
the town’s village centers. These are not well represented in
the existing Wellesley inventory. Village areas will include a
mix of commercial, institutional and residential building uses.
Potential focus areas are preliminarily identified as geographic
areas which can be described as follows:

The Wellesley Historical Society would like to preserve and process the Margaret Urann Archival Collection. This collection contains over 20 linear feet of unorganized historic materials created by Margaret Urann including manuscripts, historic photographs, personal correspondence, diaries, notes, files and scrapbooks.

Conduct a study to evaluate the entire Morses Pond shore line, assess deterioration due to erosion, and to determine the areas of shore line requiring preservation.

Design and permitting for the rehabilitation of high school track and field

This grant provides funding for the construction phase of the rehabilitation of the primary playing field and track, located adjacent to Wellesley High School. CPA funds were utilized for the planning phases of this project.
